Key Features:
Played entirely with cards
4X strategy without the weight
3 win conditions and 5 factions to keep players engaged
Setting
In this game, players engage with strategy at multiple levels to grow the footprint of one of five societies, each with unique strengths and weaknesses.
Game Type
This game is a simplified 4x (Expand, Explore, Exploit, Exterminate) that challenges players to engage in each of the strategic layers without over- or under-investing.
what happens
While players will want to take every action and gain every advantage, their action economies will force them to make meaningful decisions about how their society grows. The compelling flow of gameplay sees players mentally zooming in on detail and zooming out to see the big picture of the board state. Begin a round concerned with the construction of a new city, before moving to the affairs of outward exploration and finishing with military concerns.
As players progress their societies, they will experience conflict over key resources on the board. They will also have committed to certain trade-offs, changing the value prospects of certain goals.
By mid-game, players will be looking for the most attractive and achievable victory path, and the actions they need to take to prevent their opponent from accomplishing their chosen goals.
how to win
Players can win in multiple ways, as is typical for a 4x game. Victory can be achieved by completing the research
tree, amassing a sufficient amount of culture points, or by forcing the other player(s) to submit via military conquest.
